It was just three days ago that Dave Noble and I were carrying on a debate on Wordsmith’s Afghanistan thread. In addition to debating just who was “reconcilable” and who was a “Taliban”, I stated my opinion that without substantial changes in Pakistan policy towards their own militants, Afghanistan could very well be a waste of military resources.
